The professionalism of the staff is truly great, and there is a lot of taste that is a real treat. The quantities are good and satisfying. The seats were cleaned excellently and the seating was extremely comfortable. I found the bid extremely sympathetic.
A very authentic restaurant. You immediately feel good and the food is excellent. The taste is very finely seasoned! Highly recommended.
The food is great, one of the best rump steaks in Mainz. If you want a bit of culture with fabulous German cuisine, you definitely have to come here
Very quaint pub. Full of stuff. Choice of drinks is good, the service ok. The food is very good and freshly cooked here. German cuisine.
Most OUTSTANDING! Very nice people that take great care of you!
Very nice pork knuckle =)
Very friendly service, food was excellent. I am very satisfied and would like to come back
The best schnitzel from all of Mainz and the surrounding area. Good home cooking, homemade by the boss. Always friendly and accommodating. Price-performance ratio in order. We always like to come back here.
Fantastic service, good food, nice atmosphere. Always my pleasure!
It was tasty. Authentic, schnitzel tasted like grandma's.
The selection of the drinks was fantastic for my sister and I! The restaurant is really nicely furnished. Not a cheap decoration, instead it was very nicely matched in color. The correctness of the staff is really great. It is always fine and we had a nice evening here.
Very interesting menu, getting excited about returning to try even more dishes. The cost of the food was significantly less than expected, my sister And I were really delighted. The staff were definitely immaculately dressed and it was clear they knew their work well. Read about it online so was anticipating it to be loaded out, but lucky they were in a position to accommodate us. Great food and cocktails too, you won't be unfulfilled. We really liked our meal here and would recommend it.
The food was quite good. The service was friendly but slow.
Very cozy and tasty
Pure Happiness, and more in this Carnival period. Joy on the Plate with traditional quality and .... quantity Magnificent Address !!
3 days Mainz and 2 dinners here. Super tasty, hearty, quaint and a great atmosphere. Thank you for the friendly service!
Food was great and the service was great.
Yeah, right ... to be able to put another dessert behind. All tables were cleaned properly and the armchairs were extremely comfortable. I found the offer extremely sympathetic. Surely I come here with my relatives and can count on being taken care of impeccably.
Pork knuckle takeaway in vacuum bag
A nice place to be pampered with loved ones with a very good meal. The Haxe is just a dream - which we will think of here in the north for a very, very long time ;-)
Be sure to bring cash but a great place for authentic home cooked German food. A great way for us to recover from jet lag! The sauerbraten and lamb shank were delicious.
The beer is delicious, the roast pork feet are crispy and tender, and the roast pork slices are tender and delicious. But the amount is too large to eat. Baked pork feet are waiting for 25 minutes to be grilled, but it is worth waiting for, high CP value restaurant.
Could not be better! Good food, good beer, everything was ok! Real German!
Great food eclectic decor and amazing nice couple run the place
We ordered a sausage parade and apple pie. They are all delicious. Every sausage has a distinctive taste and is very German. Grandfather and grandmother are waiters and cooks, they are very enthusiastic and hospitable. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very good, the decoration is very special and very retro. If you need mood and food, this is a good choice! This store is indeed a restaurant that you can not miss in Mainz!
Local style restaurant. A lot of character. Very special in the local landscape. The service is slow and generous. That's the place. The food is very tasty at a very high level. One of the best restaurants in Mainz for sure. Recommended apple pie, apple strudel, for dessert.
Food is fantastic. Great Value, Tastes amazing. The only downside is the time it takes to cook. If you are in a rush this is not a place to grab a quick bite to eat. If you're looking for Home Cooked German Style Food that tastes great come here.
Great food.... waited a long time but I feel it was worth the wait
Food and service were awesome.
Amazing asparagus soup, and I don't like asparagus. The schnitzel bandit style and rosties are superb. The apple strudel and raspberry and vanilla ice cream desserts are to die for. And...if it couldn't get better, they have beer from Hofbrauhaus.
Just awesome. I felt like grandma. The food is prepared and served with love. Sauerbraten as well as spit roast were very tender and the sauces very tasteful. The asparagus cream soup deserves extra attention! Thank you and I will definitely be back.
Food and wine was excellent. Ordering the food, however, was different than I was used to. I did not look at the menu but asked the owner of the restaurant if she had a fish dish. She said that the salmon filet was available and it would come with a salad and spinach. So, I ordered it. The salad was served first than followed by the salmon except the portion of the creamed spinach was 2 tablespoons. And since there was no other side I asked for another portion of spinach. That was a little strange to me, as if they ran out and did not want to make any more, at the time. So, would I recommend the restaurant. Yes, but make sure you get what you want, so waiting for it is not an issue.
Fabulous
Great food, warm and friendly service. True home cooking.
The Big Ed pork knuckle was excellent. Very crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Everything else-Jagerschnitzel, salads, red cabbage, pumpkin soup -was very good. A quiet traditional place with good service. Cash only i think.
Best German food in Mainz. Rossi makes everything fresh and homemade. Highly recommended.
Fab food and space.
Excellent place for a hearty, delicious and filling authentic German meal. Highly recommend for locals or those traveling through the Mainz area.
An absolute hidden gem. Owned and operated by a husband and wife team. It has an old-time German family restaurant feel to it. The owners are very nice, and Rosi cooks the best schnitzel in Germany! She makes it to order with all fresh ingredients just as her grandmother did. The €12 (!) meal started with some delicious fresh German bread and a very fresh side salad, along with an ice- cold Kulmbacher from the tap. The huge “Hunter Style” Jagerschnitzel was loaded with sauce and mushrooms. It was delicious! My friend ordered the “Bandit” peppercorn schnitzel that had a wonderful sauce with just the right amount of zing to it. We ended our fabulous meal with a apfelkorn shot. This was the best meal I’ve had in my dozens of visits to Germany. Rosis is a must visit for any Mainz resident or visitor. Fair warning - show up hungry!
Very small but cosy. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. They have menus in English as well. Definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Mainz.
Great Gasthaus. Very welcoming owners. Monstrously large portions!
Used to love going to this place. The food was really good, and I always enjoyed their schweinhaxe. Then one night, with 5 of us dining at table, I ordered a starter, followed by my customary haxe, but somehow the proprietor missed my main dish choice when taking our order, and when nothing arrived, he claimed that it was too late in the evening for his chef to prepare a grilled haxe. Mistakes do happen, but I was hugely disappointed in the attitude and reaction of the proprietor to our dinner. It was almost like it was my fault for not having been served the schweinehaxe. I've been back to Mainz loads of times since, but I won't be going back to Rosis. Pity, because they used to be so good. Perhaps they should keep the proprietor away from the customers and employ someone with people skills to handle the customers?
Pork knuckle was over done for my tastes but a decent atmosphere and friendly service.
Run by a husband and wife this is the German experience you've been waiting for! You can literally hear them pounding your schnitzel as you sip beer and take I the authentic atmosphere. If you are on a schedule this isn't the place for you but otherwise I wouldn't miss it. Some of the best German food I've ever had. The pork knuckle is a MUST!
Just gorgeous both food and atmosphere.
Rosis is a must while in Mainz. Your taste buds will thank you after you've eaten there. Hands down the best food I've had anywhere!
Pig knuckle is the must eat item. Nice beer, probably the best pig knuckle in Mainz!
About a 15 minute walk from either Mainz Hilton, Rosis has excellent food and great beer with a warm and inviting staff and atmosphere. Husband Werner (?) is the waiter and wife Rosie (?) is the chef. One of their signature meals is the "Big Ed" or schweinehaxe, but everything on the menu is fantastic. Small yet inviting with only about 7 tables, I recommend reservations especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Additional outside seating is available during the summer months.
Friendly and cozy. One of my favorites in Mainz. Never had a bad meal here, love the swinehaxen.
